Vatulo Terms of Service
In effect from 7 September 2026
These are the terms of the agreement between you and Vatulo (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) for the Vatulo app and the website at vatulo.com. By creating an account or using Vatulo, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Vatulo.
1. What Vatulo is
Vatulo helps people find house parties and choose who comes to theirs. We provide the software. We do not host, organise, supervise, endorse or insure any party. Parties are private events run by the people who create them.
2. You must be 18
Vatulo is for adults only. By using it you confirm you are 18 or older. We delete accounts belonging to anyone younger.
3. Your account
Give accurate information and keep your password to yourself. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Do not impersonate anyone, and do not use somebody else's photos.
Tell us at vatulosupport@gmail.com if you think someone else has got into your account.
4. Content you post
You keep ownership of your photos, messages and profile. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display them inside Vatulo, and only so that the product can work — showing your profile to a host you applied to, delivering your message to the person you sent it to, putting your photo in the recap of a party you attended. Nothing wider. We do not use your content to advertise Vatulo, and we do not license it to anyone else.
That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for safety or legal reasons, which are described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for having the right to post what you post — including the right to post a photograph of somebody else.
5. Things you may not do
Vatulo operates a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. Specifically, you may not:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate anyone.
- Post sexual content involving minors, or any sexual content involving someone who has not consented — including intimate images shared without consent.
- Post hate speech, or attack people over race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender, sexual orientation, or age.
- Post violence, gore, or content promoting self-harm.
- Advertise, sell, or solicit — including drugs, weapons, or sex work.
- Impersonate anyone, or post someone else's photos as your own.
- Share anyone's address, phone number, or other private details without their permission. This includes a party's address.
- Scrape, automate, or reverse-engineer the service.
- Serve alcohol to anyone under the legal drinking age at a party you host.
6. Reporting, and what we do about it
Every profile, message and photo can be reported from inside the app. Every report is reviewed by a person. We aim to act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours, and we may remove content, suspend an account, or ban it permanently, with or without notice.
You can block any user at any time. Blocking is immediate and mutual: neither of you will see the other.
Hosts approve every photo before it appears in a party's recap.
If you believe we got a decision wrong, write to vatulosupport@gmail.com. A person will look at it again.
7. Safety, and the limits of what we can promise
This is the part that matters most, so it is written plainly.
Vatulo connects people who do not already know each other, and parties happen in private homes. We reduce risk where we can: addresses are hidden until a host accepts you and you commit — and hosts may hold them back further still, until a day, three hours, or an hour before the party — hosts choose their guests one by one, everyone is 18+, profiles carry reputation from past parties, and anyone can be reported or blocked.
We cannot make it safe. We do not run background checks. We do not verify identity. We do not vet homes. Verification on Vatulo currently means a confirmed email address, and nothing more — the badge on a profile says that an email was confirmed, not that a person is who they claim to be. We may begin requiring a confirmed phone number as well; if we do, it raises the cost of holding several accounts and does nothing to establish who anybody is.
You are responsible for your own judgement about who to meet and whose home to enter. Tell someone where you are going. Leave if you are uncomfortable.
Hosts are responsible for their guests, their property, and for obeying the law where they live — including the law on serving alcohol, occupancy limits, noise by-laws, and any rules in their lease or building.
8. Suspension and ending your account
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, or where we reasonably believe someone is at risk. Where we can, we will say why, and you can ask us to look again.
You can delete your account at any time, from Settings in the app. That ends this agreement, except for the sections that by their nature survive it — sections 4 (for content already lawfully shared), 9, 10, 11 and 13.
9. No warranty
Vatulo is provided as-is and as-available. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that it will meet your needs, or that anyone you meet through it is who they say they are.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Vatulo is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or reputation, or for anything that happens between users offline — including at a party.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes anything that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. In particular, if you are a consumer in Quebec, the Consumer Protection Act gives you rights that this agreement cannot take away, and it does not attempt to: this section applies only so far as that Act and other mandatory law permit. If any part of this section is unenforceable, it is severed and the rest still stands.
11. Your responsibility for your own conduct
If someone brings a claim against us because of something you did on Vatulo that broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover the reasonable costs we incur because of it. This does not apply to anything we did ourselves, and it does not apply beyond what the law allows against a consumer.
12. If you got Vatulo from the Apple App Store
These terms apply to you and to us, not to Apple. Apple is not a party to them.
- Apple has no responsibility for Vatulo or its content, and no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for it. Support comes from us, at vatulosupport@gmail.com.
- If Vatulo fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation at all, and any other claim, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense arising from a failure to conform to a warranty is ours to deal with, not Apple's.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim you or a third party has about Vatulo — including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar law.
- If a third party claims Vatulo infringes their intellectual property, handling that claim is ours, not Apple's.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this section, and on your acceptance of these terms Apple has the right to enforce it against you.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applying there, and the courts of Quebec have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules of the place where you live.
14. The rest
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, it is severed and the remainder continues in force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your account or your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to a successor of the business, and will tell you in the app if we do.
- Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Vatulo.
- Notices. We reach you in the app or at the email address on your account. You reach us at vatulosupport@gmail.com.
15. Language
These terms are available in French at vatulo.com/fr/conditions, and that version is presented first. Quebec's Charter of the French language entitles you to be bound by the French version of a contract of adhesion; you may agree to be bound by this English version only after having had the opportunity to examine the French one. Where the two differ, the French version prevails.
16. Changes
We will tell you in the app before material changes take effect, and update the date at the top. Continuing to use Vatulo after that means you accept them.
